Gottheimer visits Sussex Rural

SUSSEX BOROUGH — Congressman Josh Gottheimer visited the Sussex Rural Electric Cooperative in Sussex.
The non-profit cooperative serves 12,000 members across Sussex County and the Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County. Gottheimer is the first Member of Congress to visit the cooperative since it began in 1937.
At the cooperative, Gottheimer was briefed about the operation of the electric utility and examined their outage-prevention technology. The group, led by Chris Reese, the President & CEO of SREC, toured the facility, including the pole yard, the technology center, and the solar panels that power the building.
"To drive economic growth in Sussex County, we need to focus on our infrastructure and cost of living. That's why I was glad to visit and see first hand the important, cutting-edge work the Sussex Rural Electric Cooperative does to help Sussex residents and businesses enjoy some of the lowest electricity rates in the state," said Congressman Josh Gotthiemer.
"We were honored to have Congressman Gottheimer visit the office of Sussex Rural Electric Cooperative today. Hearing him speak about how he's trying to solve problems through bipartisan politics was important to us, and we were able to show him and his staff how Sussex REC is creating solutions with increased technology and efficiency, while keeping our rates as one of the lowest in the state of New Jersey. Knowing we have someone working on Capitol Hill for the Cooperative and all 12,000 of our members is great news.
Congressman Gottheimer met with SREC staff and the 2017 Youth Tour students. The Congressman also presented SREC with a certificate for Outstanding and Invaluable Service to the Community.
