The Friends of Sussex-Wantage Library will present “Reducing Your Carbon Footprint with Solar Energy and Electric Vehicles” in the Library’s Community Room on Sunday, July 7.
“With climate chaos intruding on our lives, now is the time to become aware of our own carbon footprints and discover ways to reduce our inadvertent contributions to climate
change” says the speaker, Alan Spector. He has worked to reduce his family's carbon footprint for the past 30 years and will show examples of how we can substitute
renewable energy for fossil fuels. Topics will include energy conservation, high efficiency
heating and cooling, solar hot water, solar electric systems, and electric vehicles.
Community-Shared Solar systems will also be discussed. Recently adopted in New Jersey, these solar systems have been employed in 16 states and allow residents to go
solar without rooftop panels. Also included is a live demonstration of a 100% electric vehicle. Spector is a local architect who has specialized in passive and active solar
building design. He is a co-author of the book “Driving to Net Zero” and lives in a net zero energy home in Lafayette.
The Sussex-Wantage Library is located on Route 639 in Wantage. No registration is required for this free program, and light refreshments will be served.
