Senior of the Year nominations being accepted

VERNON — Vernon Township is accepting nominations for Vernon's male and female Senior of the Year.

The nominee must be a Vernon resident for at least five years and have rendered service that benefits the community and surrounding areas, such as volunteering in hospitals, county, work, etc.

The nomination form is available on the Vernon Township website www.vernontwp.com

Nominees must not be an employee of Vernon Township or a member of the Senior Board, and need not be a husband-and-wife team. Recommendations should be sent to the attention of Vernon Township Municipal Building, Department of Community Affairs, 21 Church Street, Vernon, NJ 07462 or faxed to 973-764-6727.

The winner or winners will be announced at the townships spring luncheon for seniors to be held May 8, 2014, at Minerals Resort and Spa.

Nominations must be received by than April 15, 2014. Vernon seniors interested in attending the luncheon can sign up at the Vernon Senior Center on April 16 between the hours of 9 a.m. and noon.

Proof of residence msut be provided at the time of sign-up. The cost will be $7 per person.
