Mountain Creek closes ski slopes for the season

If there was an “April Fool’s” trick played at Mountain Creek Ski Resort this year it was on Mother Nature.

Tuesday, April 1 marked its 111th day of operation spanning 6 months from opening day on Nov. 30, the longest ski season in memory, and visitors from the local area and from as far away as New York City and Connecticut came to celebrate a final day of skiing and riding.

It was what skiers call a “Blue Bird Day” with temperatures in the mid-30s rising into the 50s under sunny blue skies, making the day an ideal ending to a perfect ski season.

Following Tuesday’s final day at Mountain Creek, some skiers and riders will head north to find a few more days on the slopes while others will pack their skis and snowboards and bring out the golf clubs for what should be an excellent golf season at Crystal Springs Golf Resort. The first Member Appreciation Tournament is only a scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, at the Crystal Springs Golf Club.
