    Louis Rom, 47, of Vernon was charged with six counts of forgery and six counts of identity theft after an investigative by township detectives.

    Rom also was found to have two outstanding warrants, one from Dover Township and the other from Pequannock Township.

    He was transported to the Sussex County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail for the forgery and identity theft charges and $690 for the two warrants.

    Police urge residents to check their credit reports as they have seen a surge in identity theft cases, especially with the elderly.
