  • Entitled "Climate Change is Everywhere," this photographic image is the work of Michael Cheski Photography, which was donated by professional photographer Michael Cheski of the Lake Panorama section of Vernon. The original photo was taken in RAW format in 2011 when floodwaters submerged Vernon Valley and the Appalachian Trail's elevated trail that crosses the valley. The image was processed using a technique referred to as "high dynamic range photography" in which three different exposures are combined to produce a single image. More examples of Cheski's work can be found at

  • Vince Grey of Vernon is seen perusing the photographs on display.

  • Vernon residents Fran and Dan Boltz purchased three photos that are the work of local artist, author, and photographer Leesa Beckmann of Barry Lakes. They purchased the images of the insect, the swan, and the first place award winning photo of the shadow of a frog seen as it appeared on a large green leaf. Dan Boltz explained that their home is decorated using earth tones and he felt that the three photos would be welcome additions to his home's decor. Blotz has a professional background in the garment industry and will be offering a program on "Cotton" to benefit the Historical Society on May 18.

  • The Vernon Township High School Chamber Orchestra, a septet of stringed instrument musicians perform at the photography exhibition.

Locals came out for the artists’ reception of the Vernon Township Historical Society’s photography exhibition held last Sunday at the Vernon Township Senior Center.

The free event offered refreshments and a performance by the Vernon Township High School Chamber Orchestra, a septet of stringed instrument musicians.

The event was sponsored by the Historical Society and the Vernon Township High School Photography Department.

The exhibit itself included the works of both amateur and professional photographers, both adults and students, including submissions from the members of the Vernon Camera Club. Some of the photographs were sold outright and some were to be sold in a silent auction to raise funds for the Historical Society’s educational programs.
