Brendan Gill scored the game-winning goal, leading the Jefferson Falconts to a 7-6 win over the Vernon Vikings on Saturday, April 19, at Jefferson Township High School.

Jefferson had a 2-1 lead at halftime, but battled back to tie the game at 3-3. the two teams traded three goals for the rest of regulation with the teams taking a 6-6 tie into overtime.

When Gill's game-winner hit the net, the Falcons went into celebration mode, piling on top of Gill and giving coach Scott Reid a Gatorade shower.

"We felt we just had to keep our heads up and keep playing our game," Gill said. "When I saw the ball go in, it seemed so surreal then I saw my teammates jmped on me."

Petyon Faasse scored two goals for Jefferson (5-5) and John Malley made 13 saves.

R.J. Genneken and Brandon Blankman scored two points each for Vernon (2-8). Goalkeeper Anthony Musciotto made 18 saves.

"I think Jefferson wanted the game more than we did," Vernon coach Harry Shortway said. They played hard, they played well and they were more disciplined. They deserved the win. We, on the other hand, had too many unforced errors. Lacrosse is a game of possession. If you don't possess the ball, you will not win."
