The Vernon Township School District plans a community forum devoted to discussion and explanation of the Common Core Standards Initiative on Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. until noon in the Vernon Township High School auditorium.

Dr. Bari Erlichson of the state Department of Education will be featured as a guest presenter for part of the forum. Erlichson is the state’s chief performance officer and the assistant commissioner of data, research, evaluation and reporting. Some of the forum will be spent highlighting what the Common Core actually looks like in action and spotlighting how Vernon has implemented this state-generated initiative.

For more information on the Common Core visit www.corestandards.org.
