The third Crystal Springs Member Tournament was played on Wednesday, June 25 at the Ballyowen Golf Club.

The range in scores for prize winners at this event went from the top score of the day turned in by the team of Kevin Chiang and Demetrio Cutri, who carded a 74 and the “Most Honest” score of 106 earned by the team of Lou Correale and Peter Correale, a difference of 32 strokes.

To ensure other golfers at different levels of ability had an opportunity to share in the prizes besides the top 3 teams, prizes were given to the teams that finished in seventh, 13th, 18th, 20th, and 25th place.

In addition to the prizes given to teams competing in the event, a putting contest produced two qualifiers for a shootout to determine the winner of the putting contest prize. The two finishers met on the 18th green and matched putting strokes to determine which golfer could hole out in the least number of strokes. After remaining in a tie for three tests of their putting skill from a variety of distances, the winner, Steve Pezzino, was able to capitalize on a miss from his competitor, Alvin Viray, and sunk a 3-footer to win putting champion honors.

Winners of the men and women’s longest drive and closest to the pin competition also were rewarded for their efforts with prizes. Eve Sorace and Buffy Whiting walked away with the prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin respectively for the ladies, while Kevin Chiang and Bob Heller won men’s longest drive and closest to the pin honors.

All of the prize winners in the third Member Appreciation Tournament qualify for the end of the golf season Member Appreciation Championship.
