DAR plans annual Christmas in July event

    The Chinkchewunska Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will sponsor Christmas in July on Friday July 25 until Sunday, July 27, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day at the Elias Van Bunschooten Museum, located at 1097 Route 23 in Wantage.

    This event is the group's main fundraiser to help maintain our museum. The historic house, listed on both the State and National Registers, will be decorated for Christmas by chapter members and open for complimentary tours by our period-costumed docents. There also wil be celebrations in store for New Jersey's 350th anniversary.

    The event will feature a tour of the decorated museum, the Children of the American Revolution will give tours of the historic ice house and milk room and privy, period costumes and uniforms, attic treasure sales, silent auctions, demonstrations, re-enactions, vendors and crafters, a book sale, food and entertainment.

    Lunch will be available for purchase from our Chapter’s “Café Elias." Hot dogs, hamburgers/cheeseburgers, various side salads, chips, drinks, etc. along with home baked goods will be for sale. The museum gift shop will be open each day to purchase memorabilia, books, crafts, etc.

    Demonstrators include the Lost Art Lacers of North Jersey and portrait artist Laurie Harden will sell 10-minute portraits.
