Space Farms to host Teddy Bear Day

Twelve bears call Space Farms’ Zoo home. The bruins will host a magical Teddy Bear Day on Saturday Aug. 23.

Two Himalayan, two Syrian, two Hokkaido, three Black, two Kodiak bears and the famous Goliath all reside at the zoo.

August is a bears favorite time of year, the vegetation is lush, fruit is ripe, and the days are warm and lazy.

Summer is when the appetite of the bruins starts to increase. If not chowing down on fruits, veggies and venison, the bears at Space Farms can be observed splashing in their pools this summer.

The bears are hosting this year’s Teddy Bear Day and have invited a special guest magician, Scott Morley of The Wonderfun Shop in Pompton Lakes.

The Wonderfun magic show will start at 2 p.m.

“Bears like to make magic,” said Fred Space. “They sure can make a lot of food just disappear.”

Space, co-owner of the zoo with his son, Parker, is a world renowned bear expert.

If a child brings a teddy bear to the zoo on Teddy Bear Day the child receives a free admission when accompanied by an adult.

Space Farms is located on Route 519 in Sussex and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Oct. 31.

Admission is $15.50 per adult, $14.50 per senior and $11 per child. Family Season Passes, birthday parties and group rates are available.
