Lake Shawnee 5K Run/Walk

JEFFERSON — On Sunday, Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lake Shawnee will be holding a Family and Kid Friendly 5K to benefit the Alonso Strong Fund.

All proceeds go to Sgt. Aaron Alonso, UMC & Family — while serving in Afghanistan Sgt. Alonso was severely injured after stepping on an explosive device and faces a long journey of treatment and rehabilitation.

It costs $30 to pre-register by Aug. 24 or $35 after Aug. 24 and up to race day. Race includes bananas, bagels, water, T-shirt, bib and chip.

Kids 12 Years and Under are $10 with T-shirt included and o bib or chip.

This is a Certified Timed Course — official 3.1 Miles. View a course map at lakeshawneeclub.org. Awards will be given for the top 3 male and female runners.

On site registration is from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. and all race fees are non refundable — rain or shine.

Afterwards there will be a DJ with music and games for the kids. Lunch items and ice cream will be sold.

If not racing but still want a shirt visit lakeshawneeclub.org and pre-order a shirt for race day pick up. A limited amount of T-shirts will be available for sale on race day.
