Sometimes golf tournaments can be dominated by a few skilled players making it less fun for those who may not be accomplished golfers. Not so at the fifth Crystal Springs Member Appreciation Tournament held at the Great Gorge Country Club on Friday, Aug. 15.

This was due to the competition held in 5 different categories, the Men’s Overall Division, the Couples Division for one man and one lady, the Lady’s Division, a Senior Division for a two-player team 65 years of age and older and a putting contest. There was even a raffle for prizes at the end of the event giving those who did not win a division event to receive a nice prize.

The event’s Overall Division champions were Glen Rasin and Joshua Massler with a best score of day 67.

The winners in each of the other four categories were Demetrio and Leslie Cutri in the Couples Division with a score of 73, Sherry Foley and Joan O’Keefe in the Ladies Division with a score of 97, Bill Lollnardi and John Schneider in the Seniors Division with a score of 72.

All golfers also contended for prizes in the closest to the pin, long drive and putting skill events. The winners of the closest to the pin on Quarry hole No. 3 was Robert McConeghy, Quarry No. 6 Bob Spetz and Rail No. 5 Bill Iolonardi. The longest drive winners were Johua Massler for the Men’s Division, Leslie Cutri for the Lady’s Division and Alvin Viray has dominated the putting contest by claiming his second victory in a row after finishing second in an early competition.

All of the prize winners in each of the divisions and skill events qualify for the Member Appreciation Championship scheduled for the end of the golf season in September.
