Elks to honor POW/MIA at event

    The sussex Elks Lodge No. 2288 will host an event for the National POW/MIA Remembrance Day at the lodge, located 152 Lewisbury Road.

    The purpose of the event is to reflect on those who have served the U.S. in war but have not returned.

    The affair is open to the public. All veterans and military personnel: active, National Guard and Reserve will be admitted free. All others will be asked to make a free-will donation. The program will begin at 6 p.m. with the raising of a POW/MIA flag and the dedication of a POW/MIA memorial.

    It will be followed by a barbecue dinner prepared by Safe Heaven, a group that works to fight hunger.
