County plans medicine giveback day

    There will be two additional sites open on Sept. 27 for Sussex County residents to rid their homes of potentiallyl dangerous expired, unused and unwanted medicines from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

    Residents will be able to leave their medicines with the Byram police at ShopRite in Byram or at the Hamburg Police Dept. from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

    The following police departments have permanent disposal boxes open 24/7 throughout the year: Andover, Hardyston, Hopatcong, N.J. State Police Sussex Barracks, Augusta, Newton, Sparta and Vernon.

    Sussex County residents are urged to clean out their medicine cabinets and bring their medications for disposal to sites available around the county. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
