You may not have heard of Peter Esposito just yet, but soon you will.

Esposito, the owner of Mountain Lakes Auto Wash and Express Lube in Hewitt, not only runs that business but has designed and launched the Eco-Plug, an inexpensive answer to easier oil changes that can save owners lots of money.

A passion
Esposito is passionate about the need to maintain our vehicles so they will last longer and be safer to drive. To that end, the Eco-Plug was born.

Frequent oil changes are the number one way to make your vehicle last longer, he said. But there can be problems. Tired of leaking oil and stains on your garage floor or driveway? Perhaps your present oil drain plug was re-installed incorrectly after your last oil change? Esposito says he has the answer.

“We were dealing with leaking oil pans every day," said Esposito. "I was trying to find a way to eliminate installation error that causes the problem. It’s the most common problem with oil changes.”

He explained what sets the Eco-Plug oil drain plug apart.

“The Eco-Plug is a $14.99 lifetime motor oil drain plug. The product is installed in seconds and removed in seconds (for oil changes). It prevents oil pan thread damage,” he said. And it prevents the leaks caused by an improperly installed or cross-threaded plug.

“In the event the pan itself was damaged and is leaking oil, the Eco-Plug eliminates the need to replace the pan, which could otherwise cost anywhere from $300 to $1,000 and the loss of your vehicle for a day,” Esposito said.

Esposito is the sole inventor of Eco-Plug and he has an international patent pending.

The consumer can purchase and install it themselves and change the oil themselves, without worrying about whether they’ve installed it correctly.

“It’s the safest, fastest motor oil drain plug in the world,” Esposito said. “With other types of plugs, you’re at the mercy of the installer; it can be incorrectly installed, cross-threaded and over-tightened,” he said. With this magnetic drain plug, the gasket is compressed and the oil pan is sealed tight.

“An Eco-Plug is a revolutionary, threadless, magnetic, lifetime, leakproof, universal motor oil drain plug,” Esposito enthused.

He said he is happy he has resolved a problem that has been very expensive for the consumer.

'Wash me'
Even though fuel prices have been dropping recently, a half-dozen years of higher prices have really hurt — whether it’s to heat your house or power your vehicle. Because of the economy, people haven't taken the best care of their cars, inside and out, according to Esposito.

“People have not properly maintained their vehicles, from oil changes to repairs, and they’re not washing and maintaining the physical appearance of their vehicles,” he said. “Now, with the road salt and lower temperatures to contend with, people really need to properly physically and mechanically maintain their vehicles.”

It's not only to extend the life of their vehicle, he said, but also for their safety.

“Salt deteriorates and rusts the chassis and all the lower components of the car, which can lead to a major expense,” Esposito warned.

Mountain Lakes Auto Wash and Express Lube provides the all-important maintenance services for the wintertime: full service car washing, and no-appointment oil changes, tune-ups and brake services.

It doesn’t make sense to skimp on these maintenance tasks at the risk of more expensive repairs later or a lack of confidence in the safety of your vehicle. Esposito’s business philosophy is “to provide our customers with top-rate service at a fair price and value." His comfortable Adirondack log-cabin-style shop is a pleasant place to wait while your vehicle is serviced. They have a fireplace and a fish pond, complete with a waterfall.

They also have an express exterior car wash and a separate “red carpet” lane for interior cleaning, where employees will spend the additional time required to carefully clean the inside well. After interior cleaning, the vehicle is sent through the separate 125-foot car wash tunnel — longer than normal — with top-of-the-line Hanna equipment; all this provides a better, more thorough cleaning, according to Esposito.

There are self-service vacuums available, too, for those who want to do it themselves. They also sell auto accessory items for your vehicle.

Stop by and get your vehicle maintained and get your hands on the Eco-Plug. According to Esposito, you’ll never need another.
