    — National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States, which begins Sunday, Jan. 25 and continues through Sunday, Jan. 31.

The theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2015 is “Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service” which encompasses concepts that are at the heart of Catholic education.

Schools and communities are also part of the larger communities of home, church, city and nation. Faith, knowledge and service are integral components of a Catholic education, and the values by which any Catholic school should be measured.

The schools of the Catholic Academy of Sussex County will observe Catholic Schools Week with masses, open houses, and activities for families, parishioners and community members.

The public is invited to attend one or all of the schools’ scheduled open houses:

St. Joseph Regional School, Newton - Sunday, Jan. 25, 12:30 p.m.

St. Michael School, Netcong - Tuesday, Jan. 27, 9 a.m.

Rev. George A. Brown Memorial School, Sparta - Wednesday, Jan. 28, 7 p.m.

    Immaculate Conception Regional School, Franklin - Sunday, Jan. 25, 11 a.m. and Thursday, Jan. 29, 7 p.m.

Pope John XXIII Regional High School, Sparta – Sunday, Jan. 25, 3-5 p.m.

Area Catholic schools have a long tradition of excellence. Since 1954, they have provided an outstanding education in a safe, caring environment and promoted integrity, respect, and faith as guiding principles in their students’ education.

The schools of the Catholic Academy of Sussex County continue to build on their successful introduction of the 1:1 computing initiative across the curriculum, to strengthen a coordinated program of study throughout the Academy, and to foster religious faith through the celebration of mass, retreats and community service.
