Melissa Valls won the Sodexo's Future Chef challenge on March 11 at Lounsberry Hollow Middle school.

She made a Salsa Fruit Bowl.
The idea behind this event was to help educate the kids develop healthy eating habits in an effort to fight childhood obesity and help them make the right choices in their eating habits.

Family, friends and school employees watched as the students prepared their dish.

A kitchen staff member was assigned to each student to ensure that there were no safety issues.

Judging is based on: originality, kid friendly, ease of preparation, healthy attributes, plate presentation and taste.
