— Kathleen Peterson, Sussex County Community College’s Director of Marketing, was honored with the National Council Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) gold Paragon Award for her design of the Fall 2014 Student Course Guide.

The award is given annually and is sponsored by the NCMPR. The Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in communications at community and technical colleges.

It’s the only national competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and public relations professionals at two-year colleges.

“Being recognized by your peers and other professionals in the marketing field is always an honor,” Peterson said. “NCMPR gives marketing professionals the opportunity to showcase their work. I am truly honored to receive this award.”

This year’s event took place on in Portland, Oregon, as part of the NCMPR’s 40th Anniversary Celebration and National Conference.

Peterson’s Gold Paragon is the first national gold received. She has won eight past awards, but this was her first gold.

Peterson competed against more than 1,600 entries received in 53 different categories, according to a college news release.
