VTHS student finishes first in science competition

VERNON — Vernon Township High School senior John Allogio finished first among Sussex County students competing in the Advanced Integrated Science portion of the 65th annual State Science Day held recently.

Allogio’s 12th-place ranking among the 200 students state-wide earned him the distinction as an Honorable Mention Merck Scholar. The son of Betty and Joe Allogio, he will attend Rutgers University in the fall to study Geological Sciences.

Vernon’s team score in Advanced Integrated Science also earned it first place in Sussex County.
