Senior citizens celebrated at fair

AUGUSTA — Hundreds of area senior citizens came out on Thursday, Aug. 6, for Senior Day at the New Jersey State Fair/Sussex County Farm and Horse Show.
The event included musical entertainment and the presentation of the Annual Sussex County Senior Citizen of the Year Award.
This year’s award went to Army veteran Mr. Rene Hoer of Hopatcong for his ongoing efforts of service to the community. Six seniors were nominated for the award. The other five nominees were Ida Bochner-Brown of Hopatcong, Frank Cannistra of Sparta, Barbara Darrohn of Newton, Marie Rath of Sandyston, and Nancy Woods of Newton.
