VERNON — About 50 Barry Lakes children, along with their watchful parents, and in some cases, grandparents, enjoyed a partial day of fun in the sun on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the communities beachfront.
The afternoon was interrupted by rain and with the first boom of thunder, the lifeguards immediately called everyone from the water then off the beach and into the beach house until the storm passed.
However, some 14 pizzas and a lot more were waiting for them there.
The lake community’s summer season comes to an end on Sunday, Sept. 6, with the residents’ annual picnic.
