Mayor doesn't show support for VFW

I was very disappointed with our mayor with regard to the Vernon VFW's plight. I had been under the impression that he was going to help these veterans. I was very astonished that all he has done is say that he is sympathetic to their cause. Sympathy is of no help to them. Those are just feeble words. We need deeds that back them up. What's required is action on the part of our town to grant these veterans a permanent waiver from hooking up to the sewer. At the last MUA meeting the veterans received another year's extension. What good is that? Doesn't anyone in our town government realize that next year it will be the same hardship for them? The VFW will never have enough money to hook up to the sewer system. A town that does not show compassion and caring for its veterans is a town that has lost its moral compass.

Everyone in this town should send a strong message to the mayor and those who support his incongruous actions when they vote this November. Vote for those people who are running who have strong values and concern for the veterans who fought on the battlefield to preserve our freedoms.

I urge everyone to vote for Sally Rinker for mayor. She is a strong leader who has a caring heart and will do the right thing for this town. It's so unfortunate that there are those who are demeaning her for their own benefit. I would advise everyone not to believe everything they hear. Lies are being expressed on social media by some people against others in order to promote themselves and their own self-interests. Politics is very cutthroat and there are people who will stop at nothing to achieve their goals of ultimate power.
