Church group completes mission trip

This is Our Lady of Fatima Church in Highland Lakes' seventh year participating in Group Mission Camp.

This is the largest group of teens and adults that the church has sent to work with people in need of house repairs. This year, the church sent five teams of teens and adults to help paint and repair houses in Sunbury, Pa.

There is a lot more involved in Group Mission Camp than working. There is a non-denominational service each morning and evening for more than four hundred participates in camp. It is an inspirational experience for all involved.

There are youth groups coming from all over the United States. Some groups are small others are large. Everyone is assigned a job for the week in their group. It is a learning experience for the teens to be in charge of their job. It’s also a learning experience for the adults to let the teens run the sites.

Next year, the mission trip is scheduled for week of July 10 in Tioga County, N.Y. with fundraising starting immediately. To support the trip or to attend, call Jayne Verdonik at 201-844-2394. To learn more about Group Mission Camp, go to their site Groupmissiontrips.com.
