Ooms seeking township council seat

Sandy Ooms, who submitted her petition on Aug. 18, is seeking a seat on the Vernon Township Council.

Ooms has lived in Vernon for more than 25 years and is a registered nurse. She currently holds a graduate degree in nursing/education and is seeking admission to a doctoral program. Ooms is currently teaching upper level nursing courses at the College of Saint Elizabeth, Morristown N.J. Her professional career also includes bedside care, healthcare management and informatics. Ooms also has worked as a health consultant for the adult daycare in Newton.

Ooms serves as a chapter board member for Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, one of the largest global nursing organizations. She has been the recipient of the Frances Black Humanitarian Award in Healthcare, nominated for the New Jersey Nursing Association Excellence in Nursing Clinical Practice Award and the recipient of the Kessler Institute President’s Award for Outstanding Service and Leadership.
