St. Thomas plans pet blessing

VERNON — The Rev. Howard Whitake will beless dogs, cats, livestock, birds, reptiles and any other creatures for their blessing of the Animals on Saturday, oct. 3 at 5 p.m.
The annual event commemorates the Feast of Francis of Assissi, who is reported to have witnessed his solidarity with all creation.
Also, toy animals accompanied by a child and photos of pets who have died aare welcome. There will be room for trailers and parking at the main church. Treats for animals will be available.
