Shark attack at Walnut Ridge

Bruce Hale kicked off his New Jersey book tour in Vernon on Monday, Sept. 28, with 400 kindergarteners and first-graders from Walnut Ridge Primary School.

He read stories, sang songs, and drew pictures of his surprisingly cuddly character, Clark the Shark. Walnut Ridge Primary School students had a great time with this popular children's book author. Hale read stories including his new book Clark the Shark: Afraid of the Dark.

Hale talked to students about the “many hats” he must wear as an author, an illustrator and a reader. A few lucky students got to draw book characters with this engaging author. Hale taught the students that in order to get better at anything, you need to practice, practice, practice.
