Business owners to mail donation to help VFW

We have been following with great interest the plight of our local veterans foreign wars’ need to pay a $20,000 fee for their wastewater treatment hookup. We own a small business in this area and deal with many veterans both as clients and contractors in our industry. We understand the desire that so many of us have to help the veterans and we also understand that our township government can not pick and choose which of our so many worthy organizations we can exempt from paying a variety of fees. To do so would ultimately put a heavier burden on the other worthy organizations that aren’t being given this gift, not to mention in these trying times we as taxpayers in general, some of whom are also struggling in this weak economy. As the old saying goes, “Put your money where your mouth is”. To do that we’re going to mail a contribution of $100 to Mayor Marotta to help in his efforts to solve the VFW’s problem. We are not suggesting that everyone should donate $100, but if all of us who care would just contribute something it won’t take long to have this issue behind us and remind our Veterans that we really do care.
