Councilman seeking write-in bid for mayor

I am Mario Poggi and I spent the last year as a Sussex Borough Councilman. I have seen our citizens being blatantly lied to about how others will take care of their problems by providing grants to fix our infrastructure. I have seen nonsense spewed from certain council people saying how our utility is just fine and doing well, yet when it fails and we have a water or sewer break, they are not reachable. I, on the other hand, understand the status of the system and I am out on every break, standing right next to the contractors who are repairing it and observing and learning about all of the facets of it so that I will be fully capable of giving direction if that responsibility falls on me. An aging, poorly maintained infrastructure is not our only problem though. Drugs have made its way into our town. Our children, instead of having a wholesome experience growing up in a beautiful rural town, are now faced with evading drug dealers while walking to school or to play. Our storefronts remain empty with no vision to bring business and jobs back to our town. Bad decisions from past Councils have made this wonderful little town the target of rhetoric from outsiders.

I believe that I can lead our town forward. I believe that I have a vision to help make our town reach its potential. It has been my great pleasure to see our Mayor Jonathan Rose navigate through all of this and try to always keep us on track to keep looking forward. It was a great learning experience for me. Alas, we are losing Mayor Rose to his next endeavor, which I have no doubt he will be very successful at. So now we have to decide who will be our next mayor. What are your choices? Two people who represent the same old, same old. Both are good and decent people but we can't move our town forward by using the same old stale ideas of the past. We need a visionary to lead our town forward. Bold ideas. Public relations strategies to bring business and people to our borough. I think that I am that visionary and hope that you will support me by writing me in for Sussex Borough Mayor on Nov. 3.
