Donald Walters

Donald Walters, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at Barn-Hill Care Center in Newton. Mr. Walters, son of the late Fred J. and Hulda (Vandermark) Walters was born in Sussex on Sept. 21, 1926. He was a lifelong resident of Sussex .

Mr. Walters was a wire machine operator for Plastoid Corp. in Franklin for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986. He also owned and operated Don Walters Lawn Service in Sussex. Mr. Walters was an exempt member of the Sussex Fire Department and a member of the Sussex County Fire Police.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret K. Walters in 2008, a brother Carl Walters in 2004 and a nephew, Frederick Walters. Mr. Walters is survived by 3 nieces, Eleanor Walters, Diane Click and Cindy Unger; great nephew, Dylan Click as well as several cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home 27 Third St. Sussex. Interment will follow at North Hardyston Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Fire Department services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Sussex Fire Department or Sussex First Aid Squad 25 Loomis Ave. Sussex, NJ 07461.
