Local girl scouts donate to Birth Haven

With an underlying premise of “pay to play,” more than two dozen local girl scouts brought dozens of bags of baby products with them to their Baby Shower held on Thursday.

The donated items, which were required in order to participate, were earmarked as gifts to the Newton-based Birth Haven, a group that aids homeless pregnant women.

The day’s activities included crafts and baby bingo, Pin the Pacifier on the Baby, mystery baby food tasting, snacks, photo ops, and baby stroller races.

Scout leaders Suzette Houdershieldt and Michelle Petak also extend their thanks to their host, the Pleasant Valley Lake Community for the use of their clubhouse, Walmart for $25 in supplies, Holland American Bakery for donating cupcakes, and Hamburg’s Toasty Noggins, which donated 30 crocheted baby items for Birth Haven.
