Sussex Elks Veterans’ Dinner well-attended

From the left, three nine-year-old girls from Newton helped with the ceremonies at the Sussex Elks: Mackenzie Genung, Danielle Penny, and McKenzie Emanuel. The girlþÄôs service group is called, "EveryoneþÄôs Helping Hand" and veterans are a group they wish to help. At the podium is Elks member and emcee Carol Lee Spages.

A combination of German and Italian food was served to the veterans and their guests and supporters.
WANTAGE — Friday evening veterans’ dinner hosted by the Sussex Elks Lodge No. 2288 was a huge success. According to Elks officer Patricia Green, about 130 people attended including between 80 and 85 veterans.
The dinner was at no charge for all those who serve or served in the military. A prayer of invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance were led by three 9-year-old girls from Newton who work together in their service group called “Everyone’s Helping Hand.”
