Vernon resident represents U.S.

Kelly Smigen of Vernon was part of a group of student ambassasdors from all over the U.S., who served as docents and ambassadors for the USA Pavilion and the first contact for visitors.

This group of 120 American college students, selected from more than 1,000 applicants, represent the diversity of the United States, hailing from 94 colleges and 34 states and collectively speak 28 foreign languages. Some of America's best and brightest students represented our nation at the ongoing world's fair in Milan, Italy. Being a Student Ambassador is a prestigious, once in a life time opportunity.

Expo Milano runs May through October. Visitors at the USA Pavilion include top government officials, corporate executives and other guests from around the world. This year, the Pavillion saw more than 6 million visitors. Expo Milano 2015 is promoting a number of projects, in the belief that the theme, Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life touches the lives of all of us, each and every day..

Smigen is a recent graduate from Marymount Universtiy in Arlington Va and holds a degree in Business/Communications.
