    Oct. 20Russell G. Shaffer, 36, of Franklin was indicted on six counts of third-degree theft, three counts of fourth-degree theft, six counts of third-degree burglary, six counts of third-degree criminal mischief, and one count of fourth-degree credit card theft.

    The cases were investigated by Det. D. White of the Hardyston Township Police Department, and Detectives R. VanderPloeg and N. Mattessich of the Franklin Borough Police Department. The Grand Jury alleges that between April 1 and May 18, he took a credit card and made unauthorized charges/withdrawals in Franklin. Also in Franklin, between July 3 and August 15, 2015, he allegedly trespassed on utility company property, caused a substantial interruption or impairment of the supply of power, and police said he knowingly took unlawful control over copper ground wire with purpose to deprive owner of same. The Grand Jury also alleges that on or about May 9, in Hardyston Township, he committed the offenses of theft by taking a log/wood splitter head, and on or about May 17, 2015, by taking a radiator and a ladder,

    Arraignment in Superior Court is scheduled in the next several weeks.

    Nov. 9Hayley M. Cramsie, 25, of Lafayette pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime, and unlawful taking of a means of conveyance, a fourth-degreecrime.

    Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 18.

    On April 7, 2015, she was found to be in possession of three bags of heroin. On Aug. 16, 2015, she took her mother’s boyfriend’s car without permission and admitted to same. Both cases were investigated by the Andover Township Police Department.

    Nov. 12Charlena Seva-Sweeney, 27, of Hawley, Pa. pleadedguilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime.

    Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2016.

    On March 14, 2011, a vehicle in which the defendant was a passenger was stopped by police for speeding. In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to being in possession of four bags of heroin. The case was investigated by Officer Joseph Pensado of the Sparta Police Department.

    Nov. 13Troy R. Leonard, 31, of Franklin Lakes was charged with three counts of second degree sexual assault, 3 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, 38 counts of health care claims fraud.

    Police said was arrested at is home in Frnaklin Lakes by the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office and the Franklin Lakes Police Dept.

    The complaint alleges that on various dates in 2015 Leonard, while acting as a behavioral analyst, engaged in sexual contact with 3 young patients at various locations throughout the state. It further alleges that between the years of 2013–15 Leonard knowingly submitted false or fraudulent claims to insurance companies regarding the treatment of those and other minors and their families in exchange for reimbursement for services he did not provide.

    Bail was set at $400,000, and Leonard was scheduled to have a first appearance Monday, Nov. 16, at the Sussex County Courthouse.

    The case against Leonard was investigated by the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office, The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey state -olice.

    Mark Gero, 58, of Newton was sentenced to five years of probation, concurrent with Morris County Drug Court. He was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $4,775.6 and pay total fines and penalties of $1,120. His driver’s license was ordered suspended for one year.

    He pleaded guilty on June 29, 2015, to two counts of theft, a third-degree crime; three counts of theft, a fourth-degree crime; and criminal mischief, a fourth-degree crime.

    Between Jan. 31, and March 24, he stole merchandise and cash from various businesses in Newton, Wantage and Franklin. He stole a vehicle from a parking lot in Hampton Township on March 14, and damaged property in Walmart in Franklin on March 24.

    The matters were investigated by the Newton Police Dept, New Jersey State Police and Franklin Police Dept.

    Andrew Sojka, 35, of Millersburg, Pa., was sentenced to 180 days in he Keogh Dyer Correctional Facility concurrent with 3 years in Newe Jersey state prison on Union County charges. His driving privileges were suspended for one year, and he was ordered to pay total fines and penalties of $1,330.

    He pleaded guilty on Sept. 21, to receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree crime, failure to turn over a controlled dangerous substance to authorities, a disorderly persons offense, and the motor vehicle offenses of driving while License is suspended and speeding.

    On May 13 in Wantage, the defendant was pulled over for speeding. A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia with heroin residue, and the vehicle Sojka was driving was revealed as having been stolen.

    The matter was investigated by Trooper Wawzyanick of the New Jersey State Police.
