YMCA launches Family First initiative

The Sussex County YMCA is launching a Family First Initiative, offering certain children’s classes for free and the lowest rates for other programs to families with a facility membership.

“Families are the backbone of society, and this initiative is designed to make it even more affordable for them to take advantage of Y classes that foster health, personal growth and fun," said Sussex County YMCA Executive Director Jennifer Gardner.

Swim lessons that require parents to be in the pool with their children are among the free offerings, as are Music and More, Little Chefs, and Preschool Time. In Music and More, children ages 1 to 3 sing, dance and explore musical instruments. Children ages 2½ to 5 use all their senses to cook up delicious, nutritious foods in Little Chefs. Preschool Time introduces little ones, ages 2 to 4, to the preschool experience.

“The Y has long offered free family events throughout the year, free wellness classes, and free family swim time, and now, families will get the lowest program rate possible for all classes," Gardner said. Each family with a facility membership may take two free programs per eight-week session starting in January.

The Sussex County Y provides affordable classes, programs and events for people of all ages. To learn more, visit sussexcountyymca.org or stop by the Y at 15 Wits End Road, Hardyston, or call (973) 209-9622.
