Robert O. Pellet

    Robert O. Pellet (“Bob”), 83, passed away at his residence in Highland Lakes, NJ, on Monday January 4, 2016. Robert was born on March 22, 1932 in Hoboken, NJ, to Oscar Joseph and Elfrieda (nee Sandner) Pellet. Robert lived in Bogota, Rivervale and Edison, NJ, before moving to Highland Lakes, where he had owned a home for many years, in 2005.

    Robert graduated from Bogota High School and attended Westminster College, where he received a degree in journalism. After college, Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and in the Reserves until his discharge in 1962. Early in his career, he was managing editor of the Teaneck Sunday Sun, editor of the Paramus Post and editorial and feature writer for the Ridgewood Herald News.

    Later he was manager of community relations at Merck and director of public relations at Schering-Plough. In 1977, Robert co-founded Coleman & Pellet, a public relations firm where he served as principal until the mid-1990s. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees at the nonprofit New Jersey Clean Communities and served as interim head of communications at Kean University in retirement.

    Robert is survived by his beloved wife Betty; his children, Jeffrey R. Pellet and Jennifer Pellet, and four grandchildren.
