Joseph 'Red' Louis Kabatyr

    Joseph "Red" Louis Kabatyr, 77 years old, died after a short illness at Morristown Medical Center on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016. Born to Philip and Justina Kabatyr in Franklin, N.J., where he has been a lifelong resident.

    Joseph served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and then started work as a sorter and mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Franklin retiring as Postmaster. He then worked for the Sussex County Road Department for 13 years retiring in 2011. Joseph was an Exempt Member of the Franklin Fire Department and a member of the Knights Of Columbus, Marquette Council #588. Joseph was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church and a loving and doting grandfather.

    Joseph is predeceased by 3 brothers, John, Louis and Edward and is the beloved husband for 52 years of Lorraine Kabatyr(nee Leies) of Franklin, N.J. Devoted father of Lisa Gallagher of Franklin, N.J., and Colleen Crouch and her husband, Billy, of Franklin, N.J. Loving grandfather of Jonathan, Amber, Kerry and Michael. Dear brother of Anne Zayacz of Franklin, N.J., and Mary Case of Sussex, N.J. Cherished by many nieces and nephews.

    The family will receive their friends at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, 1 Main Street, Franklin, N.J., on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Franklin, N.J. at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Hardyston Twp., N.J.
