Kenneth 'Red' Kent

    Kenneth “Red” Kent, 92, a lifelong resident of Sussex passed away Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Christiana Hospital near Middletown, Del., where he had been residing for the last two years. Red was born on Sept. 3, 1923, in Wantage Twp. to Elsie Kent Groover and George Groover.

    He worked at McCoys Corners Garage for more than 40 years. After retiring he worked for Sussex County at The Homestead and then for Lafayette Auto Parts. He was known for his humor and kind spirit.

    He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Harriet E. Kent in 2005 and seven siblings, George Jr., William, Alfred, John, Marion, Janet and Ruth. He leaves his loving daughter, Pamela Clair & her husband Ralph of Middletown, Del.,; two grandchildren, Timothy Clair and his wife, Heather, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Kimberly Steinfield and her husband, Dan, of Dillsburg, Pa. His four great grandchildren, Ivy & Sage Clair and Andrew & Kyle Steinfield were a source of great pride for him. He also leaves his sister Dorothy Yarashes of Luzerne, Pa. and many nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Ferguson Funeral Home 27 Third St., Sussex. Interment will follow at Clove Cemetery, Wantage.
