Songfest event postponed until Jan. 31

The Vernon Township Historical society has rescheduled “Old-Time Songfest with Dan Boltz ” due to the inclement weather this past weekend.

The new date is Saturday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. at the Vernon Senior Citizens Center on Church Street.

The event is the first for 2016 of the Society’s very popular series, “Those Were the Days” featuring old times in Vernon. If you want to sing a solo or sing a song with a group, call and register with Dan Boltz at 973-827-9783 so you can be included in the program. Otherwise, just come to join in the fun. All groups are welcome, choirs, church groups, bands, etc. Pre-1950 songs only, please.

If you are singing a solo, bring along some copies of the lyrics for others to join in. Pre-1950 song lyric can be found on the Internet for printing.

Well-known and talented local musician Chris Brune will accompany. Come sing a solo or just join in on the singing. Bring an instrument, if you’d like. All are welcome to just come and enjoy the music even if they do not sing. Admission and refreshments are free. There will be a special $50 prize for the oldest soloist at the event and other prizes as well.

There is no need to register if you are just coming to sing along or watch.
