Peter Thomas Neillands

    Peter Thomas Neillands, 89, passed away Jan. 27, 2016, accidentally from a fall. He joins his beloved wife, the late Eileen Neillands (2008), in heaven. He was born and raised in Cliffside Park, N.J.

    He was drafted into WWII and served in combat in the Philippines and Okinawa. Upon his return home, he moved to Leonia, N.J., where he went on to a distinguished 41-year career in law enforcement, retiring as the Bergen County police chief. He spent the last 25 years as a resident of Vernon, N.J. Peter was a devout Catholic and attended church daily.

    He leaves behind five children: Patricia, Peter, Elizabeth, Mary Ellen, and Richard, 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
