Richard E. 'Richie' Steinbacher

Richard E. “Richie” Steinbacher, 69, died on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at Englewood Community Hospital in Englewood, Fla., while fighting pneumonia. Born in Englewood, N.J., on June 30, 1946, he was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Katherine “Jean” Steinbacher. After growing up in Wayne, N.J., Mr. Steinbacher started a career as a builder with Sherman Brothers. He moved to Vernon, N.J., in 1973, where as a builder for Country Homes, he oversaw construction of hundreds of homes. In 1992, he moved to Milford, Pa., where over the next 13 years, he built numerous homes as a private contractor and a member of the Pike County Builders Association. An avid golfer, he was also a member of the Port Jervis Country Club for many years. He moved to Florida in 2005 where in his semi-retirement, he continued to work part time as a real estate agent and golf as much as he could.

Mr. Steinbacher is survived by his wife, Jackie Ferrarie Lee, of Rotonda West, Fla.; his son, Richard E. Steinbacher, Jr., and his wife, Joy, of Wantage, N.J.; his daughter, Lauren Steinbacher Lockwood and her husband, Jim, of Milford, Pa.; his sister, Ann Steinbacher, of Vernon, N.J.; his sister, Barbara Dalane and her husband Steve, of Vernon, N.J.; his five grandchildren, Michael and Nicole Steinbacher and Lindsey, Jacob, and John Lockwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23) Sussex, N.J. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Sunday one hour prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
