    Mark D. Friedman, 53, of Byram, having previously been convicted of a sex offense, was indicted on one count of providing false information, a crime of the third degree; one count of failure to register, a crime of the third degree; one count of contempt, a crime of the fourth degree; and one count of tampering with a witness, a crime of the third degree.

    The case was presented to the Grand Jury by Assistant Prosecutor Laura L. Nazzaro.

    Arraignment before the Superior Court in Newton will be within the next several weeks.

    Elisha Smolinski, 22, of Wantage was indicted on one charge of making terroristic threats, a crime of the third degree, and one count of Aggravated Assault, a crime of the fourth degree.

    The case was presented to the Grand Jury by Assistant Prosecutor Laura L. Nazzaro.

    Arraignment before the Superior Court in Newton will be within the next several weeks.

    Kevin Dunay, 49, of Stockholm was indicted on one count of first-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and two counts of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

    The case was presented to the Grand Jury by Assistant Prosecutor Laura L. Nazzaro.

    Arraignment before the Superior Court in Newton will be within the next several weeks.

    Jan. 29
    Johanne Seeland, 47, of Sparta was sentenced to three years of probation on condition she complete 100 hours of community service, submit a DNA sample, undergo random urine samples, pay $7,409 restitution and write a letter of apology to the victim and pay $160 in court fines/fees.

    She pleaded guilty on Nov. 30, 2015, to third-degree theft.

    While the defendant was serving as the treasurer for the Sparta Soccer Club, she was issuing Club checks for her own personal use on at least three occasions.

    Jaime Rhodes, 37, of Sparta was sentenced to 1 year of probation on condition that she complete 25 hours of community service, submit a DNA sample, pay $6440 in restitution to the victim and $160 in court fines and fees.

    She pleaded guilty Nov. 16, 2015, to third-degree theft.

    While the defendant was employed at the Lenape Lodge in Andover, she would take cash from the customers, then keep it, not ringing up their purchases.

    Feb. 3
    Michael Broderick, 26, of Stanhope pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled dangerous substance, a third-degree crime.

    Sentencing is scheduled March 11.

    In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to possessing heroin on Jan. 26, 2015.

    The case was investigated by Sgt. Antonello, Ptl. Mancuso, Ptl. Bianculli, and Ptl. Luciani of the Hopatcong Police Department.
