George P. Butler

George P. Butler, age 65, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Sussex. Born in Sussex to the late Percy and Mary (Smith) Butler, George had been a lifelong resident of Sussex County. He had served in the United States Army during peacetime and was a member of the American Legion Post 213 in Wantage. George had been employed at the Sussex County Department of Public Works and had retired three years ago. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his sister, Donna Rigney in 2008. He is survived by his sister, Marsha Smith and her husband, Gerald, of Westtown, New York; his two nieces, Kathleen Brownlee and her husband, Kevin, and Patti Winstedt and her husband, Dan, both of Greenville, New York; and several nieces and nephews in the state of Florida. Graveside funeral services was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Deckertown-Union Cemetery, Route 23, Wantage.
