The Center for Prevention and Counseling hosted its annual town hall meeting on April 12 at the Newton Municipal Building.
Three Vernon students, Nicolette Occhifinito, Emma Dacosta, and Alyssa Kozdron received award certificates for their participation in the “Elect To Be Alcohol Free” countywide poster contest. Nicolette was one of the selected finalists, while both Emma and Alyssa received Honorable Mention.
All of the Vernon entries will be recognized on April 27 at the Vernon Town Hall meeting that will take place at Glen Meadow Middle School at 7 p.m.
The Sussex County Coalition for Healthy and Safe Communities sponsored a public service announcement contest for April, in recognition of Alcohol Awareness Month. Students who took this opportunity to share their positive message with the community represent the majority of county youth who choose not to drink alcohol. Winning posters encourage youth to make healthy choices and abstain from underage drinking.
