The "Brighter Days" reception for the Skylands Gallery & Studios was Saturday, April 30, from 5-9 p.m.
With hundreds of pieces created by the 13 members of artist run gallery, it continues to be one of the best places to view and purchase high quality affordable artwork created by local artists and artisans.
Prior to the opening, which included fine food and beverages, live music by Mason Jar Rebellion, and a special Mother’s day discount, the gallery hosted an afternoon of free art demonstrations by members. Painter and mixed media artist Phylis Barfoot of Vernon demonstrated the art of painting on silk; Jane Brennan-Koeck, a painter from Stillwater, demonstrated traditional watercolor techniques; and textile artist Claude Larson of Frankford showed everyone an easy way to transfer printed images.
Skylands Gallery & Studio is located at 7 Boulder Hills Boulevard in Wantage.
Regular hours are Thursday, Friday and Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. and Saturday from noon until 6 p.m., or by appointment. More information can be found by going to their website www.skylandsgallery.com or their Facebook page facebook.com/skylandsgallery.
