In what she describes as “The Little School with the Big Heart,” Walnut Ridge Primary School Principal Rosemary Gebhardt continues to promote programs designed to stimulate the minds of the small children in her care, and teaching them about May Day and the joys associated with it including music and dance.
On Monday, under cloudy skies first grade students had the chance to dance around a Maypole erected just for the occasion. As a joint effort of music teacher Michael Moschella and physical education teacher Todd Piontkowski.
This special activity was a function of their collaborative efforts. Moschella teaches the students to be “artful, beatful, and tuneful” while Piontkowski teaches the students many skills where they have to follow directions and coordinate various skills to play different activities.
