Child care workshop planned in Newton

NEWTON — When a child has a mental, emotional, behavioral, or developmental health challenge, the entire family is affected. Parents, caregivers, and other community members involved in the lives of children with these challenges need support and resources. While there may be a realization that early intervention is critical, there is often lack of awareness of, and difficulty navigating access to, free services available through government and/or community agencies.
Family Partners of Morris and Sussex Counties, a Family Support Organization, will host a free workshop for parents, caregivers, community members, community leaders, educators, and first responders on May 26 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Family Partners Community Center, 67 Spring Street, Newton. The workshop is designed to provide insight into the free services available through the New Jersey Department of Children and Families Children’s System of Care (CSOC). This educational session, presented through the Sussex County Education Partnership and the Division of Community and Youth Services, will provide a clear description of the roles and relationships among the organizations involved in this system of care: the Care Management Organization (CMO), Mobile Response (MR), and the Family Support Organization (FSO) and help participants understand the role of PerformCare as the single point of entry for families seeking services through the CSOC. Representatives from the Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), Project Self-Sufficiency (PSS) and the Probation Division for the Morris-Sussex Vicinage will also be present to explain their respective roles and answer questions.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited and registration is strongly suggested. To register, contact the Family Partners office at (973) 940-3194.
