Elsie Rome

Elsie Rome, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Stillwater to the late Russell and Anna Kinney, Elsie had lived in Sussex County all of her life. She enjoyed working in the diner business with family and friends. Elsie was an avid bingo player, enjoyed bowling and playing cards, and loved her slot machines. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roy “Chirpie” Rome; her daughter, Linda Funnell and her husband, Stephen, of Wantage; her son, Russell Rome and his wife, Brenda, of Wantage; her two brothers, Leo Kinney and his wife, Nancy, of Wantage and Wilbert Kinney and his wife, Linda, of Montague; 6 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Wantage United Methodist Church, 199 Libertyville Road, Wantage, NJ 07461.
Interment followed at Clove Cemetery. Friends paid their respects to the family a half hour prior to the service from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the church on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex.
