Skylands hosts wine festival

AUGUSTA — Skylands Stadium, North Jersey’s premier sports and entertainment venue and home of the Sussex County Miners professional baseball team, will host the Skylands Stadium First Annual Wine Festival on June 4 and 5, featuring over 60 varieties of fantastic wines for tasting and purchase. The festival will be held in the stadium’s new outdoor play and party zone, The Backyard Place. The exciting event will provide wine sampling, food and dessert trucks, music, games, prizes, a special VIP tent and more.
The Wine Festival will take place from noon to 5 pm at 94 Championship Place, Augusta. The event is open to all ages, but wine tasting guests must be 21 and older. All tasting attendees will receive their own Skylands Stadium souvenir wine tasting glass.
Tickets are $35 purchased in advance and $40 at the door. The festival will also feature a special VIP tent, at $55 a ticket, where attendees will enjoy a fine wine selection, food tasting, giveaways, prizes, surprises and more. To attend the festival only (with no wine tasting) is $15. There is no charge for children 10 and younger. Food is available for purchase separately. Parking for the event is free.
Festival attendees will enjoy live music on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday country rock group Nikki Briar & the SweetBriar Band will perform. On Sunday, catch PD Brody, a singer-songwriter who performs on the acoustic guitar, and Sami Eldebs, who also performs on acoustic guitar.
Guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, taste, purchase and pop open a bottle of wine, and enjoy the afternoon. Kids will have a blast taking rides on the new Miners Express trackless train, trying out the bounce house, playing volleyball and carnival games, or panning for gems and crystals in the cool new interactive mining tower. For those interested in dining indoors, Skylands Stadium’s new on-site restaurant, wheelhouse Kitchen + Bar, will be open on both days.
