The Sussex Warren Chronic Disease Coalition will be participating in an annual statewide initiative called, “Choose Your Cover!”
Highland Lakes Country Club has offered to host the event this year, and together with the Coalition, has arranged for the free skin cancer screening and health and safety event to be held Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Highland Lakes Country Club on Breakneck Road, Highland Lakes. No appointment is necessary and all are welcome.
This skin cancer screening program is held across New Jersey during spring and summer seasons. Choose Your Cover brings free skin cancer screenings, complimentary sunscreen and a wealth of vital skin safety information, involving cancer detection, prevention and sun smart precautions directly to the at-risk population of people who spend extended time in the sun at the beach, ball parks and other outdoor venues.
There will be additional health screenings available, as well as, bike helmet fitting for Children-Trans Options while supplies last, Vernon Fire Truck & Ambulance for Touring, car seat inspection by the Vernon Police, sun safety interactive education with Enright Melanoma Foundation, and information about NJCEED for residents who are uninsured or under-insured. There will also be staff available to answer all of your questions regarding sun safety behaviors and preventing skin cancer. Free educational materials will also be provided to all participants.
The Sussex Warren Chronic Disease Coalition is a grant funded program held by the Sussex County Department of Environmental and Public Health Services. The North Jersey Dermatology Center of Rockaway and the Affiliated Dermatologists & Dermatologic Surgeons, PA of Succasunna have donated their time and expertise to provide this free screening.
